Is Ego Good Or Bad✨
The ego is not necessarily a bad thing to have. The ego is a protector. It develops to protect you from pain, rejection, humiliation and situations that threaten your sense of self. But the problem starts when the ego begins to run everything.
When that happens it stops protecting and starts reacting. It takes things personally. It makes you defensive even when nobody is attacking you. It makes it hard to admit when you are wrong or to see things from another perspective. So the goal is not to get rid of the ego. The goal is to be aware of it.
Because once you can recognize when your ego is speaking you can pause and choose a different response. Sometimes the ego is trying to protect an old wound that no longer needs protection.
